Therapies
In the past, a typical doctor of chiropractic would treat a patient's ailment with only chiropractic adjustments to the spine. Here at Gregson Health we have many new state of the art therapies to help with your pain. True we are chiropractors and still do many spinal adjustments, but many people need more than just that. We have the latest and greatest in Cold Laser Therapy, Spinal Decompression, Spinal Traction and much more for our patients.
Typing. Reaching. Bending. Even the tiniest actions and involuntary reactions can cause a misalignment in the spine and cause pain that disrupts your life at work, at home and at play. If you've suffered an injury, were in an accident, or are simply in pain, chiropractic care can help.
We offer the following therapies:
Chiropractic Adjustment/Alignment of the Spine
Gentle contacts and manipulations are performed in specific sequence to ease the bones of the spine back into proper position. This realigning of the spine relieves obstruction of the nerve system, returns the body to a natural state and alleviates pain.
Cold Therapy/Cryotherapy
Cold packs, ice, compresses and ice massage may be applied to the injured area to reduce swelling and inflammation and promote healing.
*Cold Laser

Cold Laser is an amazing new technology used in health care today. Cold laser is referred to as a low level laser therapy that is much different from traditional lasers that cut or burn.
Cold laser is painless and has no thermal effect on the body. It is used to stimulate tissue healing rather than destroy tissues.
These types of lasers have been in use for over 25 years and there has yet to be one recorded side effect. Cold laser emits a visible coherent light that is applied to the affected area. Bundles of light energy pass through the skin to photo receptors which exist on each cell within the body. These receptors are stimulated to trigger the cell to speed up several metabolic processes including increased circulation, increased cell regeneration, scar tissue reduction and increasing oxygen levels to the area. The overall effects of the cold laser are increased range of motion, decreased pain and inflammation, and enhanced tissue regeneration. The cold laser may help you with your arthritis, carpal tunnel, whiplash, disc herniations, sciatica, chronic neck and back pain, strained muscles or any process which triggers an inflammatory response.

Spinal Decompression

True spinal decompression is a means of achieving a negative intradiscal pressure through intermittent traction using a logarithmic pull curve, which eliminates the body's normal muscular guarding response to traction.
Pressure inside the intervertebral disc is reduced to a negative 100-150 mm/Hg during spinal decompression, which causes a negative pressure gradient and enhances disc hydration and reduces disc bulging and herniation.
The patient is placed on their back while the spine is stabilized. The decompression is done intermittently while pull pressure is increased and then decreased for a relaxation period. Total session time can vary depending on condition and normally lasts about 20 minutes. Post treatment, icing and muscle stimulation are performed to help consolidate paraspinal musculature. Cold laser is also used to help decrease healing time, decrease inflammation and pain, and increase circulation to the affected area. Typical treatment protocol is about 20 sessions over a six week period. Success rates are around 80% with spinal decompression in decreasing pain due to disc herniation, disc bulges, facet syndrome, chronic neck pain and degenerative discs.

Heat Therapy
Hot packs, infrared heat, and ultrasound therapies may be used to improve circulation and aid the cycle of healing.
Our Unique Disc Rehab Approach
With the McKenzie approach, therapy and exercise are used to extend the spine can help "centralize" the patient’s pain by moving it away from the extremities (leg or arm) to the back. Back pain is usually better tolerated than leg pain or arm pain, and the theory of the approach is that centralizing the pain allows the source of the pain to be treated rather than the symptoms. The main thrust of the McKenzie Method is that self-healing and self-treatment are important for the patient’s pain relief and rehabilitation of degenerated discs.
Flexion-Distraction technique uses a gentle movement to restore normal physiological range of motion to the cervical, thoracic and lumbar spinal joints. Flexion-distraction also works with the body's natural design to aid it in healing discs properly.
The combined use of intersegmental traction, McKenzie extension, and flexion-distraction allow the more portions of the disc to become enriched with water, nutrients, and oxygen. Our approach targets the entire degenerated disc which lends itself to greater success when other non-surgical methods have fallen short.
Lifestyle & Exercise Counseling
Is the patient sedentary? Athletic? Are there small children at home? What are the physical requirements of the patient's job? These are just a few of the questions doctors may ask to explore a patient's lifestyle demands. The goal is to evaluate potential for injury and identify appropriate stretching and strengthening exercises to help prevent re-injury and promote general wellness. Nutritional counseling may also be provided.
Muscle Stimulation/Interferential Electro-Therapy
Muscle stimulation is most often used to treat conditions such as muscle sprains, strains and spasms. Tiny electrical impulses are given to reduce pain and swelling in soft tissues surrounding areas of acute and chronic pain. The impulses increase blood circulation and stimulate the body's natural painkillers to provide drug-free relief to the patient.
Nutrition Counseling
Nutritional counseling appointments are available in office or by phone. Nutritional supplements are also available. All of our programs consist of high quality nutritional lines, which can be shipped directly to your location.
Physiotherapy
Physiotherapy focuses on restoring function, improving mobility and relieving pain associated with temporary or long-term physical disabilities. Physiotherapy usually includes prescribed exercises, electrical stimulation, hot or cold compresses, ultrasound, traction and/or deep-tissue massage to relieve pain. Patients undergoing physiotherapy receive continuous re-examinations and therapy is adjusted according to their progress.
Whole Body Vibration
Vibration exercise is an excellent alternative to traditional exercise with benefits including increased muscle mass, improved circulation, flexibility, range of motion, balance, and mobility.

Lose weight more effectively by increasing lean muscle mass.
Studies show that increasing lean muscle mass makes the body more fuel efficient by burning more calories throughout the entire day; not just during a workout. The more calories the body is able to burn, the higher the potential is for dramatic weight loss.
With whole body vibration, hundreds of muscle contractions per minute create an invigorating workout designed to increase lean muscle mass and firm muscles to create an overall effect of a more toned, firm, and healthy body. Using Whole Body Vibration Exercise to tone muscles and increase lymphatic drainage may help fight off cellulite while the improved circulation induced during vibration therapy may be able to tighten the skin.
Purification, also known as detoxification, can help you remove natural toxins from your body and help maintain a healthy weight. We are exposed to external toxins everyday, including pollutants, pesticides, and chemicals. Internally our bodies produce waste byproducts as a result of normal metabolic function. Although your body is designed to rid itself of these toxins naturally, it can become overburdened. Purification offers your body additional support to expel natural toxins and minimize your weight, which is important to maintaining your health and vitality.
Internal Cleansing-Weight Managment
Toxins can contribute to a wide range of conditions:
- Stuffy head
- Fatigue or difficulty sleeping
- Digestion and other gastrointestinal problems
- Food cravings and weight gain
- Reduced mental clarity
- Low libido
A purification program can have a significant, positive effect on the biochemistry of the body while allowing natural toxins and byproducts of daily metabolism to be eliminated. By participating in a purification program, you may notice the following:
- Improved weight management results
- Increased energy/vitality
- Better digestion
- Less bloating
- Clearer skin
- Shinier hair
- Better sleep
- Clearer thinking
- Disappearance or lessening of past conditions
The Purification Program is not a diet. It is a program that helps you live a healthier life by purifying, nourishing, and maintaining a healthy body and weight. Our purification program emphasizes supplements and whole foods, particularly fruits and vegetables, while limiting high-calorie, refined foods and saturated fats. Nourishing yourself with nutrient-rich foods will provide the complex combination of vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants that are needed to protect the body and promote optimal health.
